The People Behind the Racks is a global initiative to understand the human factors shaping performance in the high-intensity operational environment of digital infrastructure.

The project includes the largest ever study of the challenges facing data centre people. It focuses on the underlying behavioural patterns which drive risk, including staff turnover, employee overload, burnout, and the challenge of mobilising untapped capability and potential.

Using insights from MindAlpha’s Motivation Metrics diagnostic assessments, the project reframes these issues as operational risks rather than isolated HR concerns. Its purpose is to make hidden human constraints visible and measurable so leaders can manage performance and safety, and build resilience more effectively.
